Job Overview

The Sorter plays a vital role in a commercial laundry setting by receiving, categorizing, and preparing laundry items for cleaning. This position involves grouping garments and linens based on fabric, color, specific washing instructions, and customer requests, while upholding strict standards for quality, safety, and productivity.

Primary Duties

• Accept soiled laundry from customers and internal drop-off points.
• Organize textiles such as garments, uniforms, and linens by color, fabric type, washing needs, and client requirements.
• Examine items for any stains, damages, missing buttons, tears or defects and communicate these to the supervisor.
• Isolate heavily soiled or damaged articles for specialized treatment.
• Ensure all customer items are accurately tagged, counted, and documented.
• Ready sorted laundry by placing them into assigned carts, bins, or conveyor belts for washing.
• Adhere to company protocols for handling customer clothing and special fabric care.
• Keep the sorting area clean and well-organized.
• Help with loading and unloading laundry carts when necessary.
• Comply with health, safety, and hygiene guidelines consistently.
• Achieve daily workflow targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Provide support to other laundry operations as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Prior experience in laundry operations is preferred.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to read and write simple English.
