Join the Nowergup team in Western Australia as a Shunter, where you will be integral in safely moving and positioning rail vehicles to support everyday rail operations and maintenance. This role involves close collaboration with Yard Masters, Team Leaders, and operational teams to ensure efficient train preparation and delivery, all while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. You will have the chance to develop specialized rail skills and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within a dynamic, safety-conscious work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct safe and efficient railcar movements following established operating procedures and complying with rail safety regulations.
• Assist Yard Masters and Team Leaders in coordinating and controlling rail vehicle movements.
• Work collaboratively with operational and maintenance teams to ensure trains are prepared and dispatched on time.
• Adhere to work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and task sequences for quality execution.
• Support fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and perform authorised specialized tasks to aid maintenance activities.
• Accurately document maintenance work, progress, and issues using appropriate systems and records.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, and operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain workplace cleanliness and organisation according to 5S principles.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, operational disruptions, or urgent maintenance needs as they arise.
• Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality protocols, actively fostering a safety-first culture.

Candidate Attributes

• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Strong teamwork skills and ability to cooperate with diverse operational teams.
• Willingness to work on a rotating roster and pass a Category 1 (CAT1) medical assessment.
• Eligible to work in Australia.
• Preferred experience in a similar role, particularly within a rail depot environment.
