Senior Virtualization Test & Migration Engineer (VMware, OCP, MTV)

Role overview

This role focuses on moving appliances and virtualized workloads onto a newer OpenShift-based environment using defined migration patterns. The work may involve source systems that are physical appliances or VMware virtual machines.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out appliance migrations into the target OpenShift platform following established migration patterns.
• Run validation testing in lab environments and clearly record which patterns succeed or fail.
• Perform migration execution, write and use automation scripts, and complete acceptance testing.
• Verify that applications continue to work correctly after migration in coordination with application owners.
• Handle warranty-related issues, participate in CAB meetings, and support defect resolution.
• Be available for some work outside normal hours, including weekends, when required.

Skills and technical requirements

• Strong hands-on knowledge of OpenShift Container Platform and Kubernetes.
• Deep experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and Hyper-V.
• Practical use of Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV).
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes networking and technologies such as SR-IOV, DPDK, and OVS.
• Experience migrating and testing network/security appliances such as F5, Cisco ASA, Cisco ISE, and Bluecoat.
• Ability to manage complex, large-scale virtual workload migrations.
• Solid background in network technologies and in handling migrations in both test and production settings.
• Familiarity with change-management processes in customer environments.
• Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
