Overview
This position is responsible for supporting logistics procurement related to inbound and outbound operations. The focus is on achieving cost-effective transportation, coordinating with suppliers, ensuring compliance, and aligning with production as well as distribution requirements. The role involves contributing to performance monitoring, optimizing processes, and supporting strategic sourcing efforts to improve supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with suppliers and logistics service providers to ensure efficient coordination of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Support contract negotiations and help establish service agreements with logistics providers that emphasize cost-effectiveness, compliance, and quality service delivery.
- Contribute to optimizing transportation operations including trucking, rail, and ocean freight by selecting routes, modes, and carriers to reduce transit times, lower costs, and maximize efficiency.
- Monitor freight market trends to identify risks and opportunities for cost savings.
- Coordinate production schedules with inbound materials and outbound distribution needs to guarantee timely dispatch and delivery.
- Track key performance indicators related to logistics procurement such as on-time delivery, transportation expenses, and inventory accuracy, and prepare reports and presentations for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customs rules, and trade standards for shipments.
- Identify and implement initiatives to reduce costs and improve processes within logistics procurement.
- Ensure adherence to vendor management and sourcing strategies to maintain competitive pricing and reliable service.
- Support implementation of ERP and logistics systems to enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Work across teams including production, finance, and operations to align logistics procurement strategies with overall business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant logistics or procurement role.
