Senior Review Specialist / Principal Solicitor

About the Role

This position is with the Workers Compensation Reform Team and focuses on reviewing and determining liability in disputed psychological injury claims related to bullying, harassment, and excessive work demands under new legislative amendments. The role is fixed term for up to 12 months and based in Sydney CBD or Parramatta with hybrid working options.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough and timely reviews in line with section 280AE of the Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998 as amended by the 2025 changes.
• Apply industrial relations laws to evaluate evidence of bullying, harassment, or excessive work demands against compensation coverage criteria.
• Produce clear, complete, and accessible documentation of decisions and their justifications.
• Maintain detailed and prompt records of interactions with customers and stakeholders.
• Operate independently while collaborating with team members and internal stakeholders to ensure favorable customer outcomes.
• Comply with applicable regulatory, administrative, and privacy legislation in managing case reviews.
• Contribute to monitoring the application of new rules and assist in developing training resources and advisory materials to improve processes.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 4 years experience in NSW or Fair Work industrial law contexts.
• Knowledge of workers compensation legislation and NSW industrial relations laws concerning bullying and harassment.
• Strong dedication to delivering quality service and effectively resolving problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Legal admission as a practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW.
• Current solicitor practising certificate.
• Experience reviewing or advising on insurance claims.
