Key responsibilities

- Track developments in worldwide crypto and blockchain regulation, such as MiCA, the FATF Travel Rule, SEC/CFTC expectations, FCA, MAS, and VARA requirements, and update policies accordingly.
- Direct AML/CFT and sanctions controls for crypto products, including KYC, transaction monitoring, blockchain analysis, Travel Rule processes, suspicious activity reporting, and coordination with financial intelligence units.
- Drive licensing and registration efforts for virtual asset service providers across multiple jurisdictions and manage related reporting duties and regulator relationships.
- Assess and reduce compliance and operational exposure tied to custody, smart contracts, cross-border transfers, and fraud patterns in digital asset markets.
- Serve as the main point of contact for regulators, supervisors, and relevant industry bodies, maintaining constructive and proactive communication.
- Create and run yearly compliance plans for digital asset operations, including risk reviews, audits, and corrective action tracking.
- Work closely with product, operations, and technology teams to ensure compliance is built into exchange functionality, token launch processes, and blockchain integrations.
Requirements
- A university qualification in finance, law, compliance, risk management, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 12 years of compliance experience, including 5 or more years in a regulated crypto exchange, virtual asset firm, or blockchain-based financial services environment.
- Strong command of crypto regulatory regimes such as MiCA, FATF, FinCEN, SEC/CFTC, FCA, MAS, VARA, or comparable frameworks.
- Proven track record in VASP licensing, AML/KYC programs, blockchain analytics, and crypto transaction monitoring platforms such as Chainalysis, Elliptic, or TRM Labs.
- Extensive experience dealing with crypto regulators, financial intelligence units, and financial services regulators.
- Ability to spot emerging regulatory shifts in digital assets and turn them into practical compliance measures.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders ranging from regulators to technical teams.
