Role Purpose
The Senior Officer - ARFF Training supports the creation, delivery, and documentation of ARFF training programs to ensure personnel comply with operational and regulatory standards set by ICAO, CAA, and airport authorities. This role also assists in managing training schedules, maintaining training records, assessing trainee performance, and ensuring continuous operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond proactively to aircraft emergencies and fire alarms under ARFF protocols, following direction from ARFF leadership.
- Conduct routine safety patrols and inspections to identify potential hazards within airport boundaries, maintaining readiness for rapid incident response.
- Assist with pre-flight inspections and upkeep of ARFF vehicles and firefighting equipment, ensuring all are functional and ready for deployment.
- Support inventory management and replenishment of firefighting supplies and personal protective equipment to maintain operational reliability and safety.
- Participate actively in ARFF training drills and exercises to enhance firefighting skills, emergency response effectiveness, and teamwork.
- Keep current with regulatory updates from aviation and safety authorities and support the coordination of drills involving internal and external stakeholders.
- Help coordinate shift scheduling and rostering for ARFF personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain effective communication with internal departments and external vendors related to ARFF functions.
- Ensure orderly and clean maintenance of the ARFF station to uphold readiness for any emergency.
- Collect, document, and assist in reporting on operational data including response times, training outcomes, and equipment status.
- Maintain detailed incident reports, equipment logs, and compliance documentation for audit purposes.
- Strictly follow all safety protocols during all fire fighting, training, and equipment maintenance activities to safeguard self and teammates.
Stakeholder Interaction
This position collaborates internally with Duty Managers, Airport Operations, Security, Emergency Medical Services, ARFF Crew, Engineering & Maintenance, and HSE teams. It also liaises externally with DGCA, NDRF, local fire departments, civil aviation bodies, equipment manufacturers, industry bodies, educational institutions, and insurers.
Qualification Requirements
- Diploma in Fire Science, Aviation Safety, or related disciplines.
- Mandatory certifications including ICAO Firefighter certification and First Aid/CPR qualifications.
- Between 3 to 5 years experience specifically within aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) operations.
