Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer with over 12 years of professional experience to manage the supervision, coordination, and delivery of critical mechanical systems within large-scale data center projects. The position demands oversight of HVAC, cooling, plumbing, fire protection, and fuel systems, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and reliable operational criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee mechanical construction operations for data center developments, ensuring full compliance with approved designs, project specifications, and required standards.
- Manage the installation, testing, and commissioning stages of HVAC units, chilled water systems, cooling plants, and air distribution frameworks.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of mission-critical cooling solutions including CRAH, CRAC, and in-row cooling units specific to data centers.
- Assess mechanical shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical work streams with other disciplines including civil, structural, architectural, electrical, ICT, and specialist contractors.
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits to certify workmanship and material compliance with project standards.
- Ensure the installation of plumbing, drainage, fuel oil, and fire protection systems meet local codes and project requirements.
- Review procedures related to pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and pre-commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Oversee Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) procedures to confirm systems operate within required parameters.
- Support comprehensive testing and commissioning activities including integrated systems testing (IST) and readiness assessments.
- Resolve mechanical design, construction, and interface challenges collaboratively with project stakeholders.
- Ensure contractor adherence to quality, safety standards, and construction timelines.
- Monitor contractor progress and resource allocation, identifying risks and recommending remedial measures as necessary.
- Manage mechanical inspection requests, maintain QA/QC documentation, observations, and non-conformance reports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and offer technical insights on mechanical engineering issues.
- Assist with authority inspections, client walkthroughs, snagging, and final project handover processes.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports, technical evaluations, and status updates for client and consultant review.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering along with UPDA/MMUP Grade A certification.
- At least one data center project successfully delivered within the past five years is mandatory.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Expertise in HVAC, chilled water systems, cooling plant operations, CRAH/CRAC units, plumbing, fire protection, fuel systems, pressure testing, TAB procedures, commissioning, and multidisciplinary MEP coordination.
- Experience with data center or mission-critical cooling infrastructure is highly preferred.
