Senior Food Technologist

Overview

The Senior Food Technologist will lead all phases of food product creation and enhancement, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and safety standards are strictly followed. This position plays a vital role in fostering innovation, refining formulations, and enhancing product quality and shelf life, supporting broader business objectives through technical proficiency and collaborative efforts across departments.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage the entire lifecycle of product development from initial concept through commercialization.
• Create new recipes, fine-tune formulas, and improve current products with a focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
• Conduct trials including pilot runs and large-scale production validations.
• Monitor emerging industry trends, novel ingredients, and advanced technologies to stimulate product innovation.
• Apply scientific principles of food chemistry, microbiology, processing, and preservation for problem-solving in formulations and processing issues.
• Enhance product shelf life, stability, texture, flavor, and nutritional value.
• Evaluate and authorize raw material and ingredient substitutions.
• Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, labeling laws, and standards (e.g., FSSAI, FDA, and others).
• Support the establishment and upkeep of HACCP, GMP, and other food safety frameworks.
• Assist quality control and manufacturing teams in resolving technical and quality-related challenges.
• Coordinate closely with manufacturing to guarantee seamless scale-up and production transfer.
• Optimize production to improve efficiency, yield, and consistency, while aiding cost reduction efforts without sacrificing quality.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Operations departments.
• Offer technical advice internally and cater to client needs through presentations and customized product solutions.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation on product formulations, technical specifications, SOPs, and reports ensuring regulatory audit readiness.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, or a closely related field is required; a Master’s degree is beneficial.
• Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in food product development, manufacturing, or research and development.
• Demonstrated knowledge of product commercialization and large scale production.
• Experience complying with food safety regulations and quality systems.

Technical Skills

• In-depth expertise in food chemistry and microbiological principles.
• Strong ability in product formulation and understanding ingredient functions.
• Proficient in shelf-life testing and sensory evaluation.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and relevant food regulatory guidelines.
• Experience with pilot plant operations and factory-scale trials.
• Ability to prepare detailed documentation and technical specifications.

Location: Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Employment Type: Full-time, Onsite

Salary Range: 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 INR annually
