About Foodsmart

Foodsmart is a U.S.-based foodcare platform focused on nutrition-led healthcare at scale. It combines registered dietitian support, behavior-change tools, and food benefits to help people improve health outcomes while lowering healthcare spend.

The platform helps more than 3 million members, including people covered by employer health plans, Medicaid managed care, Medicare Advantage, and commercial insurance. It brings together nutrition assessments, counseling, online food ordering, and practical meal planning for households, while also working with national and regional retailers that accept SNAP/EBT. The company also supports members with SNAP enrollment and management. In 2024, Foodsmart received a $200 million investment from TPG’s Rise Fund to help expand access, especially for low-income workers affected by diet-related illness.

Foodsmart’s mission is to make healthy food affordable and accessible for everyone. Its culture is built around three core values: putting the customer first, acting with urgency and ownership, and working as one team.

Why this role matters

This position sits at the intersection of healthcare, client service, and account strategy. You will help clients incorporate nutrition into the way they support members and patients, contributing to programs that can meaningfully improve health outcomes. The work is highly relationship-oriented, execution-heavy, and tied to both clinical and commercial results.

Role summary

The Senior Account Manager owns a portfolio of accounts and supports a set of high-value, high-growth clients alongside a senior partner on more complex relationships. You will act as the main operational contact for your clients, making sure programs run smoothly, issues are handled quickly, and long-term partnerships continue to grow.

What success looks like

Success in this role means being reliable, organized, and proactive. You are expected to respond quickly, close the loop on commitments, and use data to guide account strategy. You should build credibility with both operational contacts and executive stakeholders, know when to escalate, and manage your portfolio independently while meeting performance goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with client stakeholders and lead day-to-day operational and strategic account management across a defined portfolio.
  • Protect and expand account retention by maintaining satisfaction, resolving issues early, and delivering programs consistently.
  • Own retention and revenue growth goals for assigned accounts by creating and executing account plans that support mutual business objectives.
  • Run or participate in recurring check-ins, business reviews, and planning meetings, while ensuring follow-through on agreed actions.
  • Explain the business and clinical value of food and nutrition programs using both qualitative and quantitative evidence.
  • Apply standard account management processes carefully and consistently across all assigned clients.
  • Investigate and resolve client problems by coordinating with internal teams such as operations, clinical, product, and support.
  • Track action items, deliverables, and deadlines so commitments are completed on time.
  • Support Account Directors on complex accounts that require shared coverage and ongoing customer success support.
  • Keep CRM records accurate, including documentation, meeting notes, and activity updates.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, Sales, and Clinical Operations on implementations and account-specific needs.
  • Build account strategies that improve retention, performance, and opportunity for expansion.
  • Lead client program enhancements, including new launches and benefit expansions tailored to each account.
  • Analyze account data to shape strategy and present ROI, clinical, and performance results to clients.
  • Create client-ready materials such as performance reports, program summaries, and business review presentations.
  • Act as an internal point person for client feedback, routing risks and opportunities to the right internal teams.
  • Plan and coordinate marketing campaigns that help drive member enrollment and engagement.
  • Work with the marketing team to customize existing assets and build campaigns suited to each client’s audience.
  • Use campaign data and engagement metrics to improve outreach and report results back to clients.
  • Watch core account metrics such as enrollment, utilization, engagement, and clinical outcomes.
  • Spot underperforming or at-risk accounts early and escalate concerns to leadership when needed.
  • Support business review preparation and follow up on action plans created from those reviews.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in account management, client services, healthcare consulting, or a similar client-facing healthcare role.
  • Proven ability to exceed performance goals and keep a book of business through renewals and expansion.
  • Strong organization and multitasking skills, with experience managing several accounts or workstreams at once.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build trust with stakeholders.
  • Comfort working with data, including clinical outcomes, marketing performance, and campaign analytics.
  • Experience meeting revenue retention targets through contract renewals.
  • Working knowledge of health plan operations and business lines such as Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, and Commercial.
  • Understanding of complex contracting and provider agreements in health plans or health systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce or a similar platform.

Preferred background

  • Experience with food-as-medicine programs, nutrition benefits, SDOH interventions, telehealth, wellness, or similar healthcare services.
  • Experience working with marketing agencies or internal marketing teams on campaign creation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public health, nutrition, healthcare administration, or a related area.
  • Prior experience in a startup or smaller company environment.

Who you are

You are collaborative, fast to learn, and committed to high-quality execution. You think strategically, can bring multiple stakeholders together, and are comfortable balancing detailed operational work with broader business goals. You enjoy leading cross-functional collaboration, care deeply about improving client experience, and are equally comfortable in day-to-day discussions and executive-level conversations.

Benefits and perks

  • Remote-first work environment
  • Unlimited paid time off
  • Flexible remote location
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) and bonus
