Role overview
This is a full-time site-based security position in Bridgwater, supporting several large, high-profile client locations across the surrounding area. The role suits someone who enjoys variety, flexibility, and responsibility, and who can deliver a strong standard of safety and customer care on every shift.
You will be protecting people, property, and premises while providing dependable cover where needed. The role is carried out in a professional environment where alertness, adaptability, and communication skills are important.
Pay and hours
Pay is £14.00 per hour. The working pattern is 36 hours per week and includes days, nights, and weekends. Overtime is available.
Key duties
- Help prevent and discourage unauthorised access, while monitoring fire and intruder alarms along with CCTV systems.
- Carry out internal and external patrols in line with assignment instructions.
- Manage vehicle movement, traffic control, and parking restrictions when needed.
- Use, check, and test security equipment such as radios and related devices.
- Handle keys, carry out locking and unlocking tasks, and keep accurate security logs and records.
- Issue visitor and contractor passes and deal with lost property.
- Support employees, visitors, and contractors with safety advice while helping to safeguard the site.
- Report hazards, faults, unsafe behaviour, accidents, and any blocked or unsafe emergency routes.
- Respond appropriately when first aid equipment is used and investigate fire alarm activations.
- Report vulnerable property and help reduce loss, waste, and unnecessary energy usage.
- Apply stop-and-search procedures where required, begin initial investigations, and report incidents.
- Provide high-quality customer service and deal with visitor or staff concerns in a professional manner.
- Maintain a professional standard of uniform, conduct, and personal presentation.
- Complete paperwork accurately, follow handover procedures, and work to assignment instructions.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required while upholding Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
Requirements
- Valid SIA licence is essential.
- Applicants must be willing to travel and be able to work across Puriton, Yeovil, Exeter, and occasionally Plymouth.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required.
- Security experience is preferred.
- Candidates must be eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance and able to achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and SC clearance.
- Applicants must be British nationals and have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.
- A right to work in the UK is required, along with a minimum 5-year checkable history.
- Strong written and spoken English is needed.

- Good communication skills and attention to detail are important, along with an ability to work well in a team and show initiative.
