Overview
This leadership position is located in Diwan near Cape Tribulation, where the Daintree Rainforest converges with the Great Barrier Reef. The role involves collaborating with Joint Management partners and Traditional Owners to safeguard and manage this World Heritage-listed site, while engaging visitors with its distinct natural and cultural significance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a work team executing diverse park management tasks across Daintree National Park (CYPAL).
- Collaborate closely with the Ranger in Charge, Joint Management partners, and Indigenous communities to plan and implement fire management, weed and pest control initiatives, infrastructure upkeep, visitor services, compliance enforcement, and projects benefitting natural and cultural resources.
- Oversee field operations, coordinate various projects, maintain comprehensive records and reporting, allocate resources efficiently, assist in emergency responses, and provide high-quality customer education and support to visitors.
Candidate Profile
- Strong leadership and communication abilities to inspire, foster relationships, and work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Relevant experience in conservation, land or natural resource management, or analogous disciplines is advantageous.
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted manual driver's licence is mandatory.
- A passion for leadership through example, outdoor work, collaboration with First Nations partners, and contributing positively to significant environmental and cultural landscapes.
