Company Overview
EMI Seals & Gaskets Ltd is a UK-based design and manufacturing firm located in Lymington, Hampshire. Role Summary
The Quality Manager will take charge of the Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring compliance with AS9100 and additional customer-specific standards. This leadership position involves overseeing quality across production, engineering, and supply chains to ensure precision, safety, and traceability of sealing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee the AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certified QMS for continual aerospace and defence compliance.
- Coordinate and manage internal, client, and third-party audits.
- Lead investigations into non-conformances, root cause analyses, and enact corrective/preventive actions.
- Champion continuous improvement efforts such as Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma throughout operations.
- Conduct First Article Inspections, FAIRs, and compile customer-specific documentation including PPAP and APQP reports.
- Develop and monitor quality KPIs to enhance product dependability and minimize waste.
- Administer quality documentation control and records management.
- Support supplier performance assessments and development initiatives.
- Engage with clients on matters of quality assurance and compliance.
- Maintain rigorous calibration, inspection, and production process validation systems.
- Ensure comprehensive product traceability and uphold health and safety standards across the business.
- Carry out quality inspections of incoming goods and maintain quality checks for materials and packing.
- Update and review material safety data sheets as necessary.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience in a Quality Manager or senior quality leadership role within aerospace or precision engineering, particularly with AS9100 certification.
- Comprehensive understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001 standards, and quality methodologies like 8D, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
- Proven track record managing both internal and external audits.
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities paired with meticulous attention to detail and a practical approach.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and material specifications.
- Proactive with a strong drive for continuous improvement and solution-oriented thinking.
- Experience with ERP/MRP and quality management software.
Desirable Qualifications
- Lead Auditor certification in AS9100 or ISO 9001.
- Knowledge of NADCAP processes.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt accreditation.
- Familiarity with client portals and platforms.
