Project Controls Specialist / Project Scheduler

About the Role

This role offers a chance to engage with complex infrastructure projects and broad multidisciplinary teams while enhancing expertise in scheduling and project controls. The position focuses primarily on project scheduling with responsibilities spanning cost management, reporting, risk analysis, and performance tracking.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain detailed project schedules and programme plans.
• Track project progress to identify timing risks, dependencies, and impacts on delivery.
• Manage baseline schedules and assist in programme change control processes.
• Provide analytical insights and schedule-related guidance to project managers and teams.
• Support monthly reporting processes, monitoring budgets, forecasts, and costs.
• Perform variance analysis and contribute to performance reviews.
• Assist in risk management, change control, and earned value management tasks as needed.
• Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, and clients to ensure transparent communication.
• Present schedule updates and project performance data clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build and maintain trusted professional relationships and manage complex discussions diplomatically.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess robust scheduling skills and a sound understanding of project control functions. Backgrounds in project controls, scheduling, engineering, construction, infrastructure, or project management are suitable. A formal engineering qualification is optional with demonstrated relevant capability.

• Proven experience in developing and controlling project schedules.
• Familiarity working on multiple projects or extensive programmes.
• Knowledge of project control areas including cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting.
• Hands-on usage of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6, with preference for Primavera P6 experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving competency.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Adaptability to diverse projects and client settings.
• Formal qualifications in project controls or scheduling are a plus but not mandatory.
