Role Overview
The position of Procurement Engineer based in Doha involves supporting procurement functions within large-scale projects across the Oil & Gas, MEP, and construction fields. This includes sourcing vendors, assessing technical materials, managing purchase orders, and coordinating with suppliers. Candidates should have a robust technical background, strong negotiation abilities, and the motivation to develop within a dynamic and expanding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily procurement tasks, from evaluating purchase requisitions to issuing purchase orders and tracking deliveries.
- Identify, assess, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and dispatch requests for quotations (RFQs), analyze bids, and assist in technical evaluation of supplier offers.
- Examine technical specifications of materials and equipment to confirm alignment with project needs.
- Build and maintain a dependable vendor network within the Qatari market.
- Collaborate with engineering, project, and site teams to comprehend procurement requirements and ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor purchase orders until receipt, addressing any supplier-related delays or issues.
- Keep precise procurement records, vendor information, and purchasing documentation as per company policies.
- Assist senior procurement staff by compiling reports on costs, supplier performance, and key procurement metrics.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations in all procurement activities.
Candidate Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience in procurement, preferably within Oil & Gas, MEP, or Construction industries.
- Proven skills in vendor sourcing and negotiation.
- Good knowledge of technical materials and established procurement procedures.
- Strong communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Preference given to candidates currently residing in Qatar or India.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
