Role overview
T&G Global Limited is investing in a new approach to procurement, with the goal of turning it into a trusted commercial partner that helps the business make stronger decisions, develop better supplier relationships, and create lasting value. As Procurement Category Lead, you will act as the deputy to the Procurement Manager and help shape how the function works across the organisation.
This position combines strategy with hands-on delivery. You will lead sourcing initiatives, create category strategies, support stakeholder discussions, and help establish the foundations, processes, and governance that will guide procurement going forward.
The role suits someone who enjoys building from the ground up, improving how things work, and constructively challenging existing ways of operating.
What you will do
- Take ownership of a wide range of procurement categories and develop category strategies that deliver value beyond simple cost reduction.
- Run sourcing activities end to end, including complex negotiations and commercial discussions.
- Oversee supplier performance and manage contract lifecycles.
- Work in close partnership with teams across Finance, Operations, IT, Growing, Logistics, and other corporate areas.
- Act as a trusted adviser who helps teams make sound commercial choices.
- Support the creation of procurement frameworks, processes, and governance for the future state of the function.
- Influence strategy while still being willing to work directly on delivery tasks.
What T&G is looking for
You should already understand procurement, but the bigger requirement is the ability to influence people and build relationships. Curiosity, good judgement, and a willingness to ask difficult questions are important in this role.
Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement will be valuable, especially if you have handled end-to-end RFPs, negotiated commercial agreements, and worked with suppliers across the full relationship lifecycle.
The team is also looking for someone who can build trust across all levels of the business, think commercially, find creative solutions, balance strategy with practical delivery, and stay effective in uncertainty. Confidence in influencing without formal authority and a growth-oriented mindset are also key.
Additional information
Applicants must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in New Zealand. Any offer made will depend on the successful completion of a drug test, credit check, driver licence check, and security check.
Culture and inclusion
T&G aims to be a workplace where people are accepted, respected, and celebrated for who they are. The company wants everyone to feel able to be themselves and thrive in a diverse, vibrant environment.
Why this role stands out
This is an opportunity to join procurement while it is still evolving into a more strategic business function. You will have real influence over the direction of the team, ownership of meaningful categories, and support from leaders who see procurement as an important contributor to business performance.
If you want a role where your ideas can shape the future and where your work will have visible impact, this position offers that chance.
