About Illawarra Tutoring
Illawarra Tutoring delivers tailored, high-standard tutoring services executed by committed and skilled educators. Serving the Wollongong and greater Illawarra region, the organization supports learners in diverse subjects, ranging from Mathematics, English, Sciences, Humanities, Statistics, to Physics. The educational assistance spans multiple student levels, including high school, TAFE, and university. The primary objective is to boost students' confidence, enhance their academic outcomes, and nurture enduring learning abilities.
Role Overview
We seek tutors located within the Wollongong area to conduct primarily face-to-face sessions throughout Illawarra, complemented by some online tutoring. Each tutor will be assigned students to instruct weekly. The role involves preparing and delivering engaging one-on-one lessons, evaluating student comprehension, and tailoring instructional approaches to individual learning goals and requirements.
Key Duties
- Plan and conduct personalized tutoring sessions for assigned students on a weekly basis.
- Assess learner understanding continually to adapt teaching methods effectively.
- Manage scheduling of tutoring sessions and maintain accurate records of lessons and student progress.
- Collaborate with the Illawarra Tutoring team to exchange best practices and educational resources.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must reside in or around the Illawarra region.
- Possess strong expertise in at least one subject among Mathematics, English, Sciences, Humanities, Statistics, or Primary Education.
- Demonstrate the ability to articulate complex ideas in an understandable manner.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and the capacity to connect with students from varied backgrounds and education levels.
- Effective organizational and time-management capabilities to oversee multiple students, maintain documentation, and achieve planned learning targets.
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience teaching high school, TAFE, or university students is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of local curricula and assessment methods is a plus.
- Relevant academic qualifications such as a degree, diploma, or active studies in Education or related fields, or proven strong academic performance in taught subjects.
