Job description

Role Overview

As an Operational Support Grade at HMP Isle of Wight, you will be integral to the effective daily operations of this busy prison. Your duties will range widely from security checks and searches at the entrance to managing deliveries, overseeing visitors, and monitoring phone communications and CCTV systems. The role combines various desk responsibilities with physically active tasks, including lifting, carrying, and walking to escort vehicles within the prison grounds.

Driving Requirement

A full and valid UK Driving Licence is mandatory as driving assignments form a key part of the job.

Candidate Profile

No formal qualifications are necessary, but the perfect candidate will be an effective communicator, capable of maintaining composure during high-pressure situations. Good judgment, common sense, and a strong team spirit are essential.

Work Schedule

Shifts vary and include weekends and nights to ensure the smooth running of the facility at all times.

Compensation and Benefits

The offered annual salary is A329,432. Benefits include 25 days of annual leave initially, increasing to 30 days after 10 years' service (pro-rated), plus 9 bank, public, and privilege holidays.
