Role Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Bullingdon in Banbury. This dynamic position involves supporting the smooth daily operation of a busy prison. The role combines a variety of tasks such as security checks at the entrance, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct searches and security measures at the prison gate to ensure safety.
- Oversee deliveries and manage goods within the prison premises.
- Supervise visitor access to maintain controlled and safe interactions.
- Monitor telephone calls and CCTV to uphold security protocols.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds.
Candidate Profile
No formal qualifications are required. Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills, the ability to remain composed under pressure, and sound judgment. Teamwork is essential for effective operation within this role. Occasional interaction with prisoners may occur depending on the prison's specific environment.
Additional Information
Applicants must hold a full and valid UK driving licence, including category D1 allowing the operation of vehicles with up to 16 passenger seats, up to 8 meters in length, and trailers up to 750kg. Reliability in punctuality for fixed shift hours is critical. Shift patterns include weekends and nights to ensure continuous operational support.
