Job Overview
This role is based at HM Prison Bure, NR10 5GB, offering a unique opportunity to apply your catering expertise within a professional industrial kitchen setting. You will prepare and supervise the preparation of nutritious meals for the entire prison population while contributing actively to offender rehabilitation through skills development and qualifications.
Role Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee offenders involved in meal preparation and cooking, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nutritional meals.
- Maintain compliance with kitchen safety, hygiene, and health standards in accordance with current regulations.
- Support offenders to gain new qualifications that enhance their employability post-release.
- Work within shift patterns encompassing hours outside 7am-7pm Monday to Friday, including weekends and public holidays, with a 20% unsocial hours pay supplement where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 2 certificate in Food Production within Hospitality and Catering or an equivalent qualification.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Vocational Qualification Level 3 or willingness to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Experience and demonstrated competence working in an industrial kitchen environment.
- Regular food safety refresher training (HACCP) every three years is required.

Working Hours and Salary
The position involves a 37-hour workweek with shift rotations covering evenings, weekends, and holidays. Part-time and job share scenarios are possible but require coverage of the full shift pattern. Starting salary is at the minimum Band 3 level, which includes a 20% unsocial hours allowance, with a range between £34,928 and £36,778.
