Role overview
This position is for a Power BI-focused business analyst in Toronto, Ontario. The role follows a hybrid arrangement with two on-site days each week. The person selected should bring at least 5 years of experience overall and 3+ years of relevant experience in BI reporting.
What you will do
- Create, enhance, and support interactive dashboards and self-service reporting solutions with Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and related BI/automation tools.
- Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Turn complex analytical findings into clear narratives and presentations for senior leaders and business stakeholders.
- Maintain strong data quality, consistency, and governance across reports and dashboards.
- Handle ad hoc reporting requests and advise teams on BI best practices.
Skills and experience
The role suits candidates with an undergraduate degree or an advanced technical degree, preferably in mathematics, physics, engineering, finance, or computer science. The ideal professional is self-driven, curious, comfortable working independently or with a team, and able to solve both business and technical problems in a fast-moving environment.
Experience should include combining data from multiple sources to present a clear message, produce practical insights, and spot opportunities to improve data hygiene. Strong hands-on ability is needed in dashboard development using Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Excel, along with advanced DAX, Power Query, SQL, automation, and semantic data modelling. Candidates should also be experienced with large datasets, data transformation, and ETL workflows.
Excellent data visualization and storytelling ability is important, including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence is considered an advantage. A working understanding of IT terminology, tools, and practices is also expected.
Preferred tools
ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence are beneficial, along with exposure to ETL processes.
