Role Overview
The Pharmacy Assistant will be an integral member of the Pharmacy Team, committed to delivering a safe, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy service across various Trust locations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate under the guidance of Lead Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacists to support medicine management, dispensing, stock control, ordering, and administrative tasks aligning with Trust protocols, SOPs, and national regulations.
- Assist in the safe supply, storage, and distribution of medications, facilitating service provision in inpatient, outpatient, community, and clinic environments.
- Provide high-quality medicines management services across wards, clinics, community services, and other Trust sites.
- Deliver technical assistance in the dispensary as per service demands, ensuring medications are supplied safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and nursing staff in medicines optimisation initiatives.
- Maintain adherence to all SOPs and Trust policies consistently.
- Contribute to the implementation of service developments and continuous improvement within pharmacy services.
- Manage medicine prescription orders following pharmacy staff instructions.
- Communicate with general practitioner practices and community pharmacies as directed.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, fostering effective team communication.
- Assist in training pharmacy assistants, student technicians, and other staff when appropriate.
- Engage in audits, governance activities, and contribute to service enhancements.
- Report and document incidents through Trust systems according to policy.
