About the Opportunity
A chance to join a renowned purpose-driven organisation based in Geelong, offering social and charitable services throughout Victoria. The Payroll Manager will lead a small team and engage with senior leadership to ensure efficient payroll operations aligned with the organisation’s values.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the complete payroll process, guaranteeing accuracy, compliance, and excellent service delivery.
- Calculate payroll payments in line with legislation, industrial agreements, and award entitlements.
- Supervise reconciliation of all payroll activities.
- Collaborate with the People Team to enhance workforce practices and streamline employee-related payroll matters such as workers’ compensation and novated leases.
- Generate detailed workforce reports including FTE changes, leave balances, liabilities, and staff turnover for Executive review.
- Provide expert payroll advice to stakeholders and act as a subject matter expert.
- Leverage Power BI for business data analysis, supporting Executive leadership with tailored reports and workforce insights.
- Offer guidance, mentorship, and support to a dedicated payroll team across multiple sites.
- Contribute to additional assignments and continuous process improvements as required.
Candidate Profile
- Proven payroll management experience with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and client service.
- Prior leadership experience and comfort interacting with executive-level stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll’s broader financial impact, including understanding balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
- Experience in community service or not-for-profit sectors is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, UKG, and Payroll Metrics platforms is preferred.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, coupled with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to build and sustain stakeholder relationships while delivering exceptional service.
- Solid understanding of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs).
- Proactive mindset toward continuous improvement and process optimization.
Additional Information
This role reports directly to the General Manager of Finance and involves significant exposure to Executive leadership. The payroll team consists of 1.7 full-time equivalents across two locations, with the manager primarily based at headquarters.
