About the Company
Africa’s First Housing Television is a specialized 24/7 news channel dedicated to housing, real estate, mortgages, property, and construction topics across Africa. Broadcasting on StarTimes Channel 149, it delivers targeted industry insights, market updates, and policy news serving a variety of viewers including professionals, investors, and households interested in housing and the built environment.
Role Overview
The News Anchor/Reporter will be responsible for delivering live and recorded news segments, conducting interviews on air, and presenting housing and real estate stories with clarity, engagement, and precision. Responsibilities include researching story ideas, sourcing and verifying information, composing and editing news scripts, and preparing reports suitable for television broadcasts. This role requires field and studio reporting, close coordination with producers and camera crews, and strict adherence to editorial and ethical guidelines. Additionally, the position involves participating in program planning and supporting urgent news coverage.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Proficiency in reporting, including fact-gathering, validation, and crafting stories related to housing and real estate.
- Strong on-camera presentation skills with professional, confident delivery.
- Experience in news writing and script creation suitable for broadcast news formats.
- Knowledge of broadcast journalism processes, newsroom operations, editorial policies, and media ethics.
- A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or an equivalent relevant field or professional experience.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, excellent interviewing, storytelling, and effective time management abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in dynamic, deadline-driven environments while collaborating with editorial and technical personnel.
- Familiarity with housing, real estate, mortgage, property, or construction reporting is beneficial.
