Program Overview
Handshake seeks skilled music experts and academics to support artificial intelligence research through flexible, contract-based assignments paid hourly. This opportunity is not a conventional employment role. Candidates will leverage their practical expertise in instrumental performance, composition, or music production to assess AI-generated musical content and provide valuable feedback that enhances AI's comprehension of diverse musical styles and traditions.
This is an ongoing, project-driven role that can be balanced alongside other commitments.
Program Details
The role entails applying your professional background and everyday use of music tools to develop expert training data and review AI outputs for correctness and relevance. No previous experience with AI technology is necessary.
This position offers full remote work with a flexible, asynchronous schedule and no minimum hour requirement; typically, participants contribute around 5 to 20 hours weekly during active projects.
Assignments depend on current project demands, with the chance to be considered for future projects as they arise.
Who Should Apply
- Applicants must have at least a Master's degree; a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) is highly preferred.
- Background in composition, jazz or guitar performance, commercial music, or instrumental performance such as saxophone or trumpet.
- A strong focus on instrumental performance is required; degrees emphasizing performance are preferred over academic fields like musicology or ethnomusicology.
- Familiarity with digital audio workstations such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton is advantageous, though not mandatory.
- Excellent written communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting are essential.
