About the Role
As a Mini Tie Gang Laborer reporting to the Track Supervisor and Track Foreman, you will be essential in performing daily track maintenance activities, primarily focused on the installation of track ties across territories managed by PNR RailWorks Inc. This role demands adherence to safety, quality, profitability, and schedule goals ensuring top-notch customer satisfaction. In times when not installing ties, additional track maintenance tasks may be assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- Commit to and follow all company and industry safety protocols and policies.
- Repair or replace track components such as ties, plates, and spikes as necessary.
- Inspect track conditions, including track beds and right-of-way, to identify, report, and fix defects.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment responsibly, completing maintenance and inspections daily.
- Perform special tasks assigned by the Track Foreman or designee.
- Handle administrative responsibilities related to proper documentation according to PNR’s Quality Management System.
- Efficiently manage time-sensitive tasks to meet daily production and safety standards.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Preferably one year of experience related to general labor in construction.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with occupational hazard regulations and safety precautions relevant to the tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Engage in activities involving standing, walking, climbing, balancing, lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds on uneven surfaces.
- Exposure to loud noises, live tracks, trains, and high voltage environments.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and maintain focus in varied situations.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
