Mechanical Technician - Offshore

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician to perform a variety of maintenance and commissioning tasks on offshore oil and gas facilities located in Qatar. The role involves ensuring optimal operational reliability and safety by conducting pre-commissioning, commissioning, as well as preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on both rotating and stationary equipment.

Primary Duties

• Execute mechanical pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks for offshore oil and gas installations.
• Handle installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of mechanical machinery and systems.
• Conduct preservation activities such as flushing, cleaning, pressure and leak tests followed by reinstatement of equipment.
• Perform mechanical completion checks and assist with resolving punch-list items.
• Support commissioning efforts for pumps, compressors, turbines, generators, valves, heat exchangers, vessels, and related mechanical apparatus.
• Carry out alignment, rotation verification, lubrication, oil flushing, and functional performance tests of equipment.
• Assist in equipment startup, shutdown, performance testing, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Validate equipment installation according to approved drawings, datasheets, and manufacturer guidelines.
• Prepare and finalize commissioning documentation such as check sheets, inspection records, test packages, and handover files.
• Collaborate closely with teams from Construction, Commissioning, Operations, QA/QC, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE).
• Adhere strictly to procedures concerning PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), HSE protocols, and offshore safety regulations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Possession of a Technical Diploma or equivalent certification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Between 5 to 10 years of mechanical maintenance experience focused on pre-commissioning and commissioning, with duration reflecting seniority.
• Demonstrated offshore work experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or Energy sectors.
• Proficiency with rotating and static mechanical equipment, including compressors, turbines, pumps, generators, mechanical seals, valves, and other process machinery.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment datasheets.
• Good command of English language.
• Mandatory possession of valid BOSIET or FOET certification.
• Mandatory possession of a valid H2S safety certificate.
