- Spot project risks early and put practical mitigation measures in place.
- Check and coordinate mechanical drawings, specifications, and design details.
- Work in line with building regulations, safety rules, and applicable standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other consultants.
- Oversee mechanical installations in housing, apartment, office, retail, and industrial developments.
- Adjust delivery methods to suit the different demands of residential and commercial projects.
- Lead project teams, subcontractors, and site staff.
- Serve as the central contact for clients and other stakeholders.
- Hold regular meetings and issue clear progress updates.
- Control budgets, monitor costs, and prepare forecasts.
- Approve supplier invoices and subcontractor payments where required.
- Protect profitability by keeping costs efficient across all assigned jobs.
- Organise material, equipment, and subcontractor procurement.
- Make sure deliveries arrive on time to support the programme.
- Maintain quality expectations and comply with health and safety requirements.
- Carry out site checks and audits as needed.
- Encourage a strong safety-first culture across projects.
What the client is looking for
- A degree or other recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience managing mechanical projects.
- Direct experience delivering both residential and commercial construction work.
- Solid technical understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of building regulations and industry standards.
- Comfort using project management tools and MS Office.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Good organisation, problem-solving ability, and resilience under pressure.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at the same time.
- Professional certification such as PMP, Prince2, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
- Experience with BIM and modern construction technologies is an advantage.
- Awareness of sustainable building methods and energy-efficient systems is desirable.
Working setup
This is a blended office-and-site role, with supervision taking place on project locations as well as from the office. Travel between sites is required, and the work environment is fast-moving and deadline-led.
Benefits
- Competitive salary.
- Performance-related bonus.
- Company vehicle or travel allowance.
Additional information
The role covers both residential developments such as housing and apartments, and commercial projects including offices, retail spaces, and industrial buildings. The successful candidate will need to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality, safety, financial control, and client satisfaction.
