Purpose of Role
Lead marine operations to ensure 100% customer satisfaction while maintaining consistent operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee marine operations including managing a fleet consisting of 50-seat catamarans, patrol boats, and pontoon boats.
- Train boat skippers, crew members, and marine hostesses.
- Manage schedules, leaves, and performance evaluations for boat captains, crews, and marine hostesses.
- Conduct inspections to verify vessel seaworthiness.
- Ensure all navigation and communication equipment are fully functional.
- Implement and uphold grooming and hygiene standards for all marine staff as per company policy.
- Inventory control and replenishment of consumable supplies.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment, tools, and vessel maintenance (mechanical, electrical, navigation, and electronic).
- Monitor and track all vessels and ensure adherence to operational schedules.
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance standards of all vessels at all times.
- Serve as primary contact for all boat operations.
- Ensure mechanical safety and cleanliness of boat assets.
- Coordinate safety drills, rescue operations, and sea trials.
- Assess weather conditions and make operational decisions accordingly.
- Perform minor boat repairs as needed.
- Collaborate with local authorities and third-party service providers for vessel repairs and maintenance activities including antifouling, hull cleaning, dry docking, waste disposal, engine and generator maintenance, air-conditioning, safety equipment, distress kits, boat retrieval, and rescue operations.
- Liaise with coastguard, port authorities, and engine/boat suppliers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 7 to 10 years of robust background in marina or marine operations.
- Essential practical sailing experience on luxury yachts or cruise liners.
- Proven effective navigation skills.
- Mandatory completion of International Maritime Organization (IMO) certifications.
- Possess valid licenses for boat driving and diving.
- Relevant marine certifications such as CMM or AMMC/IMM.
- In-depth knowledge of navigation charts specific to the Middle East region, particularly Qatar and its maritime borders.
- Familiarity with maritime navigation routes to various marinas within Qatar.
- Understand maritime rules and regulations thoroughly.
- Strong orientation towards customer and guest service excellence.
