Role Overview
Black & Grey HR is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join their client’s Project Controls team permanently based in Abu Dhabi. This role involves vigilant oversight of project expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets, managing client invoicing, validating supplier and subcontractor payments, and bolstering the commercial and financial health of offshore projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee project costs ensuring spending stays within authorized budgets.
- Maintain and update budgets, cost plans, and forecasts continuously throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project commitments and actual expenses to identify budget deviations and propose corrective measures.
- Prepare client invoices aligned with contractual milestones, payment terms, and project advancement.
- Review supplier, subcontractor, and vendor invoices for conformity with purchase orders and contractual agreements prior to payment processing.
- Analyze project financial information to detect spending trends and recommend profitability improvements.
- Discover cost-saving potentials and assist in executing cost reduction strategies aligned with departmental goals.
- Develop detailed reports including earned value analysis, cash flow forecasts, and summaries for project management and senior stakeholders.
- Support monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and management reports for Project Controls.
- Maintain precise records of costs, financial documents, logs, and commercial project documentation.
- Assist in annual budget preparation, financial planning, and project closure cost reconciliation.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Procurement, Finance, Commercial, and Contracts departments to ensure financial and commercial accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and financial governance in all commercial activities.
- Support audit processes by maintaining accurate commercial and financial records.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Engineering or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Professional certification such as RICS is a plus.
- A minimum of 4 to 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Offshore or Oil & Gas projects is essential.
- Comprehensive understanding of cost accounting principles and financial regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and relevant regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex financial data and recognizing cost patterns.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to generate accurate and prompt financial and cost reporting.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to present financial information to non-financial audiences.
- Collaborative interpersonal skills to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to perform well under pressure maintaining high standards of accuracy.
