About Combined Metal Industries
Combined Metal Industries (CMI) is dedicated to sourcing and processing recycled ferrous and non-ferrous metals throughout North America, preventing waste and landfill use by transforming metals for new purposes.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and upkeep of mechanical systems and equipment at our plant located at 8470 Keele St, Vaughan ON. This full-time onsite role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold smooth equipment operations and compliance with industry standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the creation and advancement of mechanical systems, devices, and equipment.
- Generate detailed designs, specifications, and technical drawings utilizing CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Engage in system testing and analysis to optimize performance and identify improvements.
- Assist in implementing design changes across projects.
- Contribute to multiple simultaneous projects to meet plant objectives.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure regulatory compliance and operational alignment.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to resolve mechanical issues and maintain continuous plant equipment functioning.
- Ensure all designs and procedures adhere to applicable industry regulations and standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Minimum of one year of experience within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Experience working directly with manufacturing equipment is a valuable asset.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Capability in mechanical design, analysis, testing, and validation.
- Experience with project management.
- Self-motivated and eager to develop professional skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective team player with collaborative and innovative approach.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organization, time management, and prioritization abilities.
- Analytical with strong problem-solving aptitude.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Willingness to learn about the business and plant operations.
Working Environment
- Work will be conducted both in office settings and on-site in yards and plants, including outdoor exposure.
- Exposure to weather conditions is expected.
Compensation and Employment Details
This is a full-time, onsite position scheduled Monday through Friday. The expected annual salary ranges from $55,000 to $70,000, depending on experience, education, and overall fit with the role.
