Overview
The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting in the upkeep of financial records, preparation of reports, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions. This position is suitable for those beginning their career in accounting and finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in compiling monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
- Record daily financial transactions within accounting systems
- Perform reconciliations of bank statements and corporate accounts
- Manage processing of invoices, payments, and expense documentation
- Maintain organized and precise financial records
- Provide support during audits and tax preparation processes
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities
- Collaborate with senior accountants and finance managers on various projects
- Ensure adherence to company policies and accepted accounting standards
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP
- Proficiency in accounting programs including QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- High level of detail orientation and accuracy
- Analytical thinking and effective problem-solving abilities
- Capability to handle deadlines and manage time efficiently
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or work experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles
- Understanding of financial regulations and tax compliance
- Motivation to pursue professional credentials like CPA
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based settings, with possible remote or hybrid working arrangements
- May require extended hours during closing periods of the fiscal year or audit seasons
