About the Role
Peabody CoalTrade Asia Private Ltd. is looking for an experienced Inventory Manager to lead strategic and operational inventory management across its Australian mining operations. This leadership position is based in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley office, with regular visits to mining sites nationwide. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Australia, the role focuses on inventory governance, logistics support, warehousing performance, and inventory optimization to ensure critical materials availability while driving efficiency and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Head a team of inventory specialists to develop and implement a national inventory strategy, including budgeting, policy creation, and performance standards.
- Optimize inventory levels across multiple sites balancing critical spare availability with capital costs.
- Lead forecasting, replenishment, and inventory improvement initiatives throughout Australian operations.
- Support warehouse teams on processes, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and promote warehouse, warranty, and inventory KPIs through data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Procurement, and Operations to align inventory with equipment reliability needs.
- Assist logistics and supply chain activities to maintain uninterrupted supply to operational sites.
- Serve as subject matter expert in inventory, warehousing, and logistics systems, particularly SAP ERP.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, supporting business continuity planning.
Working Conditions
The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule with flexible start and finish times, including an option to end work at noon on Fridays. The position requires travel to various mine sites across Australia to maintain close operational relationships and support site performance.
Candidate Profile
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive experience managing inventory in mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, or asset-intensive industries.
- Proven ability to manage inventory performance across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of warehousing, logistics, and supply chain best practices.
- Proficient with SAP or similar ERP inventory systems.
- Commercially savvy with excellent skills in data interpretation and stakeholder collaboration.
