Role Overview
We are seeking an Interior Designer to join our Melbourne-based team, working on-site in close partnership with architects and project groups. This role is pivotal in shaping integrated interior design solutions that complement overall architectural and development visions. Daily duties encompass space planning, formulating interior design proposals, selecting finishes, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), and creating comprehensive construction drawings and documentation.
The Interior Designer will coordinate with various consultants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure that interior designs adhere to functional requirements, client budgets, and deadlines, while upholding the highest standards of quality. Responsibilities also include preparing presentations, assembling material boards, participating in client meetings, and advancing human-centred, forward-looking design concepts across diverse project types.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expertise in Interior Design and FF&E selection, including finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and materials.
- Strong competence in space planning and the development of interior layouts for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
- Good understanding of architectural principles with the ability to merge interior concepts seamlessly with architectural intent.
- Experience in producing detailed construction drawings and documentation pertinent to interior fit-outs.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
- Proficiency with design and documentation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Australian building regulations, standards, and accessibility guidelines is beneficial.
- Strong communication, collaboration aptitude, and excellent time-management skills suitable for a dynamic on-site studio environment.
