Overview
Seeking an experienced Industrial Engineering professional for immediate hiring in Pune and Chennai locations. The role involves leading initiatives to enhance productivity, optimize capacity, balance production lines, and reduce manufacturing costs utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques within the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform time and motion studies along with work measurement to determine standard times and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard work content.
- Enhance manpower productivity through effective deployment and line balancing focused on takt time, cycle time, and work content optimization.
- Identify and eradicate inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and non-value-added tasks to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), output per hour (UPH), and labor productivity.
- Conduct capacity planning for current and future production demands, optimizing machine, manpower, and line utilization, supporting make/buy decisions and manufacturing feasibility analysis.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing practices such as Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Poka Yoke, value stream mapping (VSM), and waste reduction targeting Muda, Mura, and Muri elimination.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), cost reduction projects, and continuous improvement goals.
- Participate in new product introduction activities, including manpower, capacity planning, workstation design, and ensuring production readiness to meet scheduled cycle times and capacity targets.
- Design and improve plant layouts, material flow, and workstation ergonomics to minimize handling and enhance operator safety and efficiency.
- Identify and drive cost reduction opportunities in labor, processes, and material handling, supporting automation and digital manufacturing tool implementations such as MES and ERP systems.
- Develop performance metrics dashboards to monitor key industrial engineering KPIs including labor productivity, OEE, cycle time, takt time, line efficiency, capacity utilization, and cost savings.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering or Technology in Industrial, Mechanical, or Production Engineering.
- 8 to 15 years of industrial engineering or manufacturing excellence experience, preferably in Tier-1 automotive component manufacturing.
- Strong practical expertise in time studies, line balancing, capacity planning, new product launch support, and lean manufacturing interventions.
- MBA or PGDM in Operations or Manufacturing is preferred, with Lean Six Sigma certification considered an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Time Study, MOST work measurement techniques, Line Balancing, Takt Time and Cycle Time analysis, Manpower calculation, and Capacity Planning.
- Experienced in Lean Manufacturing tools including Kaizen, SMED, 5S, Poka Yoke, VSM, VA/VE, and OEE.
- Skilled in Plant Layout design, Ergonomics, Low-Cost Automation (LCA), and driving automation initiatives.
- Familiarity with SAP/ERP, MES systems, and data analysis tools such as Excel and Power BI for productivity and KPI tracking.
Ideal Profile
Candidates from automotive or auto-component manufacturing with exposure to products such as rubber hoses, metal tubes, brake or engine components, transmission parts, forged/cast components, chassis or fuel systems, or EV assemblies preferred. The role suits a data-driven, analytical problem solver who translates manufacturing data into tangible improvements in productivity, capacity, cost efficiency, and delivery performance.
Initial Deliverables (First 12 Months)
- Increase labor productivity and line efficiency through standard time establishment and accurate manpower optimization.
- Enhance plant capacity with minimal capital expenditure by reducing work-in-progress (WIP), lead times, and bottlenecks.
- Drive productivity and value engineering savings alongside the adoption of Lean/Kaizen culture.
- Support successful launches of automotive programs ensuring production readiness and capacity achievement.
- Develop and maintain an Industrial Engineering dashboard for continuous productivity monitoring and review.
