About the Role
The Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an HR Advisor to join their team following an internal promotion. The main responsibility is to provide professional HR advice and support to managers throughout the organisation, facilitating the delivery of excellent healthcare services. The role involves upholding the Trust's values while advancing objectives within the People & Organisational Development Directorate.
Key Responsibilities
The HR Advisor will establish strong collaborative relationships enabling managers to implement effective people management strategies. Support will involve advising on employee relations such as disciplinary cases, conflict resolution, managing sickness absence, organisational change, and performance management. Guidance must be practical, solution-oriented, and compliant with employment legislation, NHS terms, and Trust policies. Communication channels include MS Teams, email, telephone, and in-person meetings where needed. Additionally, the advisor will contribute to HR policy development, training delivery, and various HR initiatives as part of a wider team.
Working Arrangements
This position primarily supports teams within the Pennine area, functioning under a hybrid working model that combines home working with presence at key Trust sites. Support across Lancashire and South Cumbria will also be provided as necessary within a flexible, collaborative, and supportive team environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will have HR advisory experience demonstrating excellent organisational skills, responsiveness, and confidence handling HR systems. A CIPD qualification or active progress toward it is required. NHS experience is advantageous but not essential. The Trust values diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from all backgrounds to create a flexible, creative, and effective workforce.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Trust actively combats discrimination and invites applications regardless of age, disability (including carers/experiences with mental health or learning disability services), ethnicity, gender, religion, belief, or sexual orientation. It especially encourages applications from under-represented groups to reflect the communities served. Individuals with lived experience relating to the role/service area are also welcomed for their authentic insight.
Flexible Working and Wellbeing
The organisation supports flexible working arrangements such as term-time work, part-time hours, compressed hours, and flexi-time, aiming to promote a healthy work-life balance. Extensive wellbeing resources and support are available to help employees flourish professionally and personally.
