About Brighton Grammar School
Established in 1882, Brighton Grammar is an Anglican educational institution committed to inspiring and guiding every boy to excel in all aspects. Role Overview
We are seeking applications for the esteemed position of Head of Strength & Conditioning. This is a permanent full-time role giving experienced strength and conditioning coaches the opportunity to lead within a well-established program where strength and conditioning is highly valued.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the comprehensive school-wide strength and conditioning program focused on enhancing physical health and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sport to ensure tailored strength and conditioning support for all sports throughout the year.
- Supervise a team supporting the Physical Education Program for students in Years 7 to 10, prioritizing safe practices and expanding knowledge.
- Manage the daily operations of the Strength and Conditioning Facility ensuring it remains safe, well-maintained, and hazard-free with regular equipment inspections and upkeep.
- Develop, implement, and oversee safe, stimulating, and age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs aligned with the school’s Long-Term Athlete Development model for students and staff outside school hours.
- Direct the delivery and management of sport science services including GPS tracking, fitness evaluations, athlete profiling, workload monitoring, and wellbeing data collection to guide athlete development and program adjustments.
- Oversee the internship program related to strength and conditioning.
- Perform other duties as outlined in the formal position description.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Relevant prior experience in a comparable role combined with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise or Sport Science. A Master's degree in Strength and Conditioning is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficiency using sport science technology such as Catapult, VALD, and AMS.
- Accredited ASCA Level 2 Professional certification.
- Demonstrated skill in conducting group training or fitness sessions with adolescents and adults.
- Proven capability to engage and motivate teenagers, fostering improvement in their fitness and general wellbeing.
- Familiarity with current methodologies in long-term athletic development.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an aptitude for inspiring others and building effective relationships.
- Certification in Level 2 First Aid, current CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management.
- Possession or willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
