Overview
A partner company operating in the financial services sector is seeking a Head of Operations based in Germany. This senior leadership role is integral to shaping and expanding the operational framework of a global, fully remote financial organization. The position demands an expert in operations who can ensure efficiency, resilience, compliance, and excellent service delivery across core functional areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive operational strategy aligned with overall business goals to drive scalability, efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead multiple operational domains including payments, treasury, reconciliations, card operations, back-office, and general business operations.
- Manage operational performance by defining metrics, implementing controls, and initiating continuous improvement efforts to maintain high standards.
- Champion process enhancements and automation by employing structured methodologies along with technology, data analytics, and AI-driven solutions.
- Standardize operating procedures to increase consistency, efficiency, and enhance visibility across operations.
- Build, mentor, and nurture a high-performing operations team that embraces accountability, collaboration, and ongoing development.
- Collaborate closely with compliance, risk management, and financial crime prevention teams to ensure all operations meet regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Implement and oversee operational risk management frameworks encompassing monitoring, reporting, controls, and audit readiness.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders spanning technology, data, human resources, and client service teams to ensure seamless alignment with business initiatives.
- Provide oversight for digital asset settlement activities, including reconciliation, wallet management, custody controls, and crypto-to-fiat operational processes.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience managing operations in banking, fintech, financial services, or wealth management sectors.
- Proven track record overseeing and scaling multiple operational functions such as payments, treasury, settlements, and general business operations.
- Expertise in process optimization, operational transformation, automation, and scalable workflow development.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance obligations, AML frameworks, and financial crime mitigation.
- Experienced in leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams to drive high operational performance.
- Exceptional leadership qualities including communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
- Strategically minded with the ability to convert business objectives into detailed operational plans.
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain technologies, or digital asset operation management is highly valued.
- Proven capability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed environment requiring strong autonomy and collaborative abilities.
