Role Overview

The Hardware Technician will deliver both on-site and remote system support for customers throughout the region. This role includes deploying new and upgraded mining systems at client sites, performing basic troubleshooting and software configuration including computer operating systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Possess a comprehensive high-level understanding of mining systems deployed.
• Serve as an escalation point for technical issues beyond the scope of project engineers and other technical staff, managing resolution processes.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely and budget-compliant deployment of mining systems.
• Optimize system and product deployment processes for maximum efficiency.
• Define and review project proposals and plans jointly with colleagues and clients.
• Manage project execution including phase definition, elements, and scheduling.
• Analyze product design, customer requirements, and performance standards to determine specifications.
• Prepare cost estimations for projects.
• Load basic configurations, updates, and operating systems onto field and server computing equipment following established change management procedures.
• Monitor project progress, coordinate activities, and resolve problems adhering to project management standards.
• Administer service agreements and maintain databases of deployed systems and configurations.
• Write computer programs, enter data, and maintain backups as required.
• Promote teamwork by achieving related goals as needed.
• Foster strong collaborative relationships with hardware supervisors and project engineers.
• Identify business risks, inefficiencies, challenges, and opportunities related to business applications promptly.
• Stay informed of technological market developments and recommend solutions to improve project cycles.
• Abide by company policies regarding Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE), Ethics, and Compliance.
• Adapt to varying work environments including office settings, mine sites, and challenging conditions involving heat, noise, dust, and working at heights.
• Uphold company reputation by demonstrating appropriate behavior and reporting any noncompliance.
• Maintain positive relations with customer personnel, communicating issues effectively.

Educational and Professional Background

• Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent in Engineering (Computer, Mining, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical) or related discipline.
• A minimum of two years progressive experience in the mining industry or as a hardware technician specializing in installation and maintenance.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French is advantageous.
• Prior experience working with remote teams is highly preferred.

Additional Information

• Flexibility to occasionally work weekends and travel to various mining sites, including international locations, is required.
• Possession of a valid passport and driver's license is essential.
• Successful background check clearance is mandatory.
