Job description

Overview

The Handyperson role entails carrying out maintenance, repairs, and routine as well as urgent services for non-technical components of a facility such as walls and floors. The individual is expected to follow prescribed operational procedures and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external standards, including those for environmental safety, health, and fire protection.

Primary Duties

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on non-technical facility elements.
  • Follow established processes and practices consistently during work execution.
  • Observe all company and legal requirements related to environment, health, safety, and fire protection.
  • Inspect facilities regularly, including non-technical components, and monitor their condition.
  • Report any deficiencies or potential improvements for facility components.
  • Carry out scheduled walkthroughs and respond promptly to routine and on-demand service requests.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on facility non-technical parts.
  • Document work completion and resolution data accurately within the service maintenance management system.
  • Track and report status updates of maintenance activities and secure necessary approvals for work.
  • Support implementation and upkeep of preventive maintenance programs, identifying and escalating any faults while maintaining related documentation.
  • Contribute to facility-related projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate and legislative policies and standards throughout work activities.
  • Maintain assigned tools in serviceable condition, organizing repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Submit all expenditure documentation punctually.
  • Enhance customer and tenant satisfaction through professionalism and quality service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

Wearing personal protective equipment is mandatory.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in facility operations and maintenance.
  • Trade-related training is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to follow and implement facility maintenance procedures.
  • Competence in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing non-technical facility components.
  • Capable of assessing facility conditions, identifying issues, and recommending improvements.
  • Willingness to learn and apply knowledge regarding fire, life safety, and building codes.
  • Strong commitment to environmental health, safety, and proper work practices.
  • Client-oriented mindset with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Good communication skills for effective data sharing and problem resolution.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Interest in enrolling or working towards completion of a trades certification or license.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Compensation

This full-time position offers an hourly wage ranging from $28.30 to $33.29, with starting pay determined by the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and performance relevant to the role.

This job is based full-time onsite in Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
