Groundskeeper

Job Overview

The Groundskeeper plays a vital role in preserving the campus's visual appeal, cleanliness, and safety. Responsibilities include maintaining outdoor areas such as grounds, parking lots, entrances, walkways, and patios, and assisting with minor landscaping enhancement projects.

Key Duties

• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance and landscaping tasks across two main campuses and one satellite site using hand and motorized tools.
• Tasks involve litter collection, garden upkeep (watering, weeding, mulching), lawn care, power blowing, pruning, trimming, edging, cleaning fallen tree debris, snow removal, and upkeep of equipment.
• Adopt sustainable practices focusing on plant health, proper maintenance, and eco-friendly pest control measures.
• Ensure that outdoor spaces remain attractive and functional at all times.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A certificate in Landscape Horticulture from an accredited institution.
• At least two years of professional experience in commercial gardening, groundskeeping, or related green industry, ideally within a large organization.
• Possess a valid British Columbia driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Demonstrated aptitude in landscape maintenance, soft landscape construction, and ecological principles.
• First Aid certification is preferred.
• Excellent time management with the capability to prioritize work effectively.
• Self-motivated to follow and manage a structured work schedule with minimal supervision.
• Experience coordinating and overseeing outsourced landscaping services is advantageous.
