About the Role
The City of Bunbury is seeking a dedicated General Hand to join its Parks and Reserves team. This position focuses on the upkeep and management of irrigation and reticulation systems, alongside contributing to general landscape and horticultural maintenance within city parks and public spaces. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about outdoor work and keen to enhance their skills in irrigation and grounds maintenance, all while enjoying a 9-day fortnight work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the operation, upkeep, repair, and installation of irrigation and reticulation systems throughout City parks and reserves.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving irrigation system faults.
- Handle power tools, machinery, and other equipment related to park and reserve maintenance.
- Engage in turf management, horticultural tasks, and landscape care activities.
- Contribute to various outdoor projects aimed at maintaining and improving public open spaces.
- Collaborate effectively within the Parks and Reserves team to uphold the quality of community green spaces.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience or strong interest in irrigation and reticulation system maintenance.
- Desirable qualifications may include irrigation, horticulture, turf management, landscaping, or related fields.
- Practical skills with hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Possession of a Medium Rigid driver's license or willingness to obtain one within three months (self-funded).
- White Card certification.
- Basic Traffic Management Certificate or readiness to acquire one (funded by City).
- Recent National Police Clearance (within the last 12 months).
- Strong enthusiasm for working in outdoor settings and maintaining public green spaces.
- Ability to work safely and collaboratively as part of a team.
