Role Overview

We seek a dedicated Frontend Engineer who excels both at conceptualizing user interactions and implementing them with React code. This role is unique as the first frontend engineering hire at Coinflow, responsible for developing the entire design system from scratch. Working directly with the CTO and founding engineers, this role requires taking product ideas from rough concepts to refined user interfaces without intermediate handoffs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the design system built on shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS, including components, tokens, patterns, and comprehensive documentation to support the engineering team independently.
• Design and deliver complete features from wireframing or high-fidelity mockups to production-ready, data-integrated components, iterating based on user experience.
• Revamp existing user interfaces such as merchant onboarding, dashboards, and checkout flows that were initially created for speed rather than polish.
• Establish the visual style for a fintech application emphasizing trustworthiness, speed, and accuracy, reflecting the specific needs of a payments platform.
• Make architectural decisions regarding component composition, theming, and reusability to ensure scalable UI growth.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers to accurately represent complex systems like multi-chain settlements, card networks, and fraud or risk states without oversimplification.

Qualifications

• Expertise with shadcn/ui, Radix primitives, Tailwind CSS, React, and TypeScript, including deep understanding of component composition models.
• Portfolio or code repositories demonstrating end-to-end design and development of complete products rather than isolated designs or components.
• Strong design intuition covering typography, visual spacing, color schemes, and organizing complex, data-driven interfaces typical of financial products.
• Ability to handle ambiguity and independently determine optimal interaction patterns without predefined specs.
• Experience creating or significantly enhancing a scalable design system within a production environment, encompassing versioning, theming, and documentation.
• Preferred experience in fintech, cryptocurrency, or other demanding sectors requiring trust and data density.
• Additional advantage for familiarity with Next.js, React Native, or animation libraries such as Framer Motion or GSAP.

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000 USD annually, with the exact figure varying according to qualifications and experience.
