Role Overview

We are seeking a Fire Investigator to join our skilled team based in Ireland. Jensen Hughes is recognized for its forensic investigation expertise, handling inquiries into the origin and cause of fires, explosions, and other incidents, both on land and at sea, with reports and expert testimony accepted globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend incident scenes to document and gather evidence, and interview witnesses.
  • Lead investigations into the origin, cause, and progression of complex fire cases.
  • Coordinate with experts from other parties involved.
  • Prepare meticulous, detailed technical reports of high quality.
  • Provide expert witness testimony as needed.
  • Use the company’s case management system to document all case activities adhering to service level agreements.
  • Participate in joint examinations and involve specialists when necessary.
  • Maintain and advance technical knowledge through ongoing professional development, including training and research in fire and explosion investigation.
  • Attend marketing events and represent the company at meetings and conferences.
  • Develop and deliver presentations or articles for training and marketing purposes.

Candidate Requirements

  • Relevant experience or qualifications in fire investigation, fire engineering, forensic science, or related disciplines; professional membership is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical abilities with the capability to apply scientific methods to forensic scene examination.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear and precise information.
  • Great attention to detail, flexible work approach, and ability to build effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, supported by a network of colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, often on short notice, across Ireland, the UK, and occasionally abroad.
  • Must possess a current driving license; car ownership is preferred.
