Financial Controller

Position Overview

A partner organization seeking a Financial Controller based in the United States invites applications for a pivotal role managing and optimizing core accounting operations within a rapidly expanding company. Key Responsibilities

• Drive the monthly financial close process to produce prompt and precise financial statements.
• Ensure the general ledger's accuracy by performing reconciliations, journal entries, and managing accounting policies.
• Coordinate annual audit preparations and maintain effective communication with external auditors and tax professionals.
• Guarantee compliance with US GAAP and uphold robust internal control measures.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management activities.
• Evaluate operating expenses, monitor budget discrepancies, assess trends, and identify financial risks to inform executive decisions.
• Collaborate with finance leadership on monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Handle intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and consolidations where relevant.
• Assist in tax compliance and regulatory filings alongside external counsel.
• Work closely with departments across Operations, Product, Technology, and People to ensure financial data integrity.
• Recommend and implement improvements in accounting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Support transitioning and optimizing current accounting systems, workflows, and procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• Valid and active CPA certification mandatory.
• Minimum of seven years progressive experience in accounting roles, including Controller or Assistant Controller positions.
• Extensive expertise in US GAAP and technical accounting standards.
• Proven track record managing month-end close and external audit cycles.
• Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong ownership and accountability.
• Ability to maintain a strategic outlook while engaging in hands-on daily accounting tasks.
• Strong analytical capabilities and clear communication skills for complex financial information.
• Experience with contemporary accounting software; familiarity with Xero is an asset.
• Handling multi-entity accounting and consolidation processes experience.
• Background in fintech, lending, insurance, or regulated financial services highly favored.
