Programme Overview
This graduate role in Finance and Accounting at Westpac New Zealand is central to supporting financial decision-making and performance across the bank. Participants work closely with seasoned finance professionals in areas including financial control, reporting, analysis, and business partnering. The programme is based at the Takutai Square office in Britomart, Auckland, lasting around 10 to 12 months. Graduates join as permanent employees starting February 2027 and begin with an immersive orientation alongside other new graduates to deepen understanding of Westpac NZ.
Key Learning and Experience
Throughout the programme, participants develop comprehensive insight into the operations of a large banking institution, engaging with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance regulations, and performance analytics that inform strategic business decisions. Upon completion, graduates will be supported in securing roles aligned with their interests and strengths within the business.

Continuous learning is prioritized through mentorship by finance leaders and champions, structured to assist in identifying focus areas. Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are recent or final-year graduates holding undergraduate or postgraduate degrees completed within the last year. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand or Australia and possess a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a similar field. Essential attributes include meticulous attention to detail, analytical thinking, confidence in data interpretation, strong communication and teamwork skills, proactiveness, and genuine enthusiasm for banking and financial services. Interest in pursuing professional qualifications such as CA or CFA is highly valued.
