Field Equipment Operator - Water Treatment Systems in Jubail

Position Overview

VEI Arabia is looking for a practical Field Equipment Operator to manage and maintain water treatment and chemical injection equipment at industrial facilities around Jubail. This role requires daily on-site operation rather than office work. The operator will travel each day to active sites, managing running equipment, monitoring system parameters, documenting operational data, and performing troubleshooting as necessary. Candidates need mechanical aptitude and should be comfortable working outdoors in an industrial setting. Residency in or relocation to Jubail is required. Some travel within Saudi Arabia may be needed for project purposes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water treatment systems, chemical injection units, pumps, air compressors, blowers, and related machinery during daily site visits.
• Supervise equipment operation, monitoring flow rates, pressure, system levels, and ensuring performance remains within target parameters.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational faults including pump failures, leaks, blockages, and replace parts as needed.
• Handle plumbing and pipework tasks such as assembly, modification, repair, and maintenance of hoses, valves, manifolds, and fittings.
• Perform preventive maintenance including inspections, filter replacements, lubrication, and equipment servicing to avoid unexpected shutdowns.
• Accurately log operational data, chemical consumption, maintenance activities, and site observations in daily reports.
• Manage equipment mobilization tasks such as loading, unloading, positioning, connecting, and commissioning machinery during installation or relocation.
• Safely handle, store, and load chemicals following safety data sheets and organizational protocols.
• Comply fully with health, safety, and permit-to-work systems, including confined space and hot work controls as applicable.
• Collaborate with field team members and environmental specialists for technical advice and escalate issues requiring engineering support.

Qualifications & Experience

• Residency or willingness to relocate to Jubail or nearby areas, enabling daily on-site attendance.
• High school diploma or comparable qualification.
• Hands-on experience operating and servicing mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, blowers, generators, or processing plants.
• Understanding of plumbing, valves, pipe fittings, and hose assemblies.
• Capability to independently troubleshoot equipment faults and perform repairs without close supervision.
• Comfortable working outdoors amid harsh Eastern Province climate conditions.
• Valid Saudi driving license with reliable site-to-site travel ability.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg regularly.
• Competence in maintaining detailed, clear operational records.
• Basic English language skills; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
• Valid work authorization in Saudi Arabia (transferable Iqama or Saudi national).

Preferred Skills & Advantages

• Technical certifications or vocational diplomas in mechanical, plumbing, electrical, instrumentation, or HVAC trades.
• Experience with water treatment plants involving reverse osmosis, filtration, dosing systems, or effluent treatment.
• Background in industrial or petrochemical environments in Jubail or Eastern Province.
• Familiarity with chemical dosing and injection technologies.
• Knowledge of permit-to-work procedures, confined space entry, and hot work processes.
• Skills in welding, fitting, or mechanical fabrication.
• Basic understanding of instrumentation, gauges, and control panels.
• Safety certifications like First Aid, H2S awareness, or OSHA training.

On-site training will be provided for the specific water treatment and chemical injection systems used by VEI Arabia, alongside environmental and water quality standards.
