About the Role
Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) acts as the independent safety and health regulator for industries such as mining, quarrying, petroleum, gas, and explosives across Queensland. The Executive Project Support Officer (EPSO) is based in the Health Strategy and Compliance (HSC) unit and is responsible for providing senior executive support, project coordination, and leadership on operational initiatives within the unit.
Key Responsibilities
The EPSO ensures smooth daily operations of the HSC unit by delivering comprehensive executive, project, and administrative support. This includes supporting strategy, business, and operational planning, managing confidential secretariat duties, preparing and vetting correspondence for senior executives and ministers, and maintaining precise electronic records. The role involves monitoring the progress of projects, reporting against milestones, identifying risks, and escalating emerging issues timely.
Financial and Administrative Support
The role also encompasses assisting with financial administration by tracking and managing the unit's budget, handling expenditure reconciliation, and contributing to financial report generation. Other administrative functions include coordinating travel, organizing meetings, events, and conferences, managing communication distribution both internally and externally, and providing high-quality executive support to the Director of HSC.
Required Skills and Experience
The EPSO position demands proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and various enterprise systems for document management, reporting, workflow, and data analysis. Familiarity with Dynamics, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, OneDrive, and financial and records management systems is advantageous. Prior experience with executive and project support, travel and event coordination, and basic financial tracking is highly valued.
