Job description

Position Overview

This Environmental Service Worker I role is focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the healthcare facility during the evening shift (2pm to 10:30pm). The incumbent will undertake thorough cleaning, floor care, and waste management duties to ensure high hygiene standards and regulatory compliance, supporting the comfort and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sanitize assigned spaces including patient rooms, corridors, common areas, restrooms, and other facility locations following infection control guidelines.
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting of floors, furniture, and equipment using suitable tools and techniques.
  • Apply maintenance procedures on hard and carpeted surfaces such as stripping, refinishing, and upholstery treatment per departmental standards.
  • Clean walls, ceilings, windows, woodwork, doors, and other surfaces to uphold cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Monitor and replenish supply stocks in designated areas, reporting shortages for timely restocking.
  • Manage disposal of trash and biohazard materials safely and in compliance with safety protocols and HIPAA standards.
  • Use and maintain cleaning machinery properly, reporting any equipment dysfunction or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist with minor repair tasks and report major facility issues to appropriate staff members.
  • Ensure punctuality and consistent attendance adhering to organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferably 1 to 2 years of experience in cleaning or environmental services.
  • Familiarity with various cleaning methods, equipment, and related products.
  • Knowledgeable about infection control practices and safety standards within healthcare settings.
  • Capability to operate cleaning tools and machines safely and efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues, patients, and visitors.
  • Physical capability to handle repetitive motions and lift or move items when necessary.

State-Specific Compliance

  • For Indiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina employees: Completion of the assigned SAMA training course within 30 days of hire is mandatory.
