About the Role

We are looking for motivated Engineering Managers to lead technical delivery for an expanding rail engineering services team based in Belfast or Dublin. This role involves overseeing diverse rail engineering projects across the UK, Ireland, and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Manage relationships with clients and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Promote health, safety, and welfare by embedding a strong safety culture within the team.
- Oversee client requirements, assurance outputs, and manage assumptions and departures.
- Coordinate design activities including integrated reviews, advancing digital tools to aid project delivery.
- Collaborate with Project and Design Managers to ensure smooth technical delivery of rail projects.
- Mentor aspiring engineering managers and provide guidance.
About the Team
- Work on exciting projects for infrastructure owners, government bodies, and private clients including Translink, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, MetroLink, Irish Rail, Network Rail, HS2, and regional transport organizations.
- Support the full design lifecycle from early conceptual stages through to detailed design and site support.
- Share technical knowledge and experience through mentoring colleagues.
- Deliver technical excellence and client satisfaction on projects.
Location and Work Environment
This full-time role is based at our offices in Belfast and Naas or Dublin city centres. Our workspaces are designed for health and wellbeing, featuring natural light, open collaborative spaces, and easy access to public transport. Candidates must reside in Belfast or Dublin.
Candidate Profile
- Proven success in delivering multidisciplinary projects as an Engineering Manager or equivalent roles such as Assistant Engineering Manager or Design Manager.
- Specialist expertise in railway engineering design.
- Experience covering at least one full project lifecycle phase from feasibility through to design and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety standards including CSM, CDM, Irish construction regulations, and safe-by-design principles.
- Ability to manage multiple teams and tasks, prioritizing to exceed client expectations.
- Technical expertise to challenge and review project outputs and deliverables.
- Experience in specific engineering responsibilities like CEM, CRE, DPE, or PE.
- Chartered or incorporated status with a relevant professional engineering institution or active progress toward it.
- Familiarity with client engineering assurance processes and railway standards.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience throughout the full project lifecycle from feasibility to implementation.
- Engineering management experience on consent-led projects.
- Track record of mentoring and developing engineering staff.
